Make the Best of Your Break with CBD

Make the Best of Your Break with CBD

With the worst of the weather once again on our doorsteps, the time for a well-earned winter break has arrived. From seasonal city breaks to exotic escapes to far-flung destinations, a break from the norm during the darker months of the year is always welcome.

Increasingly, travellers looking to make the most of their breaks are bringing CBD products along for the ride. Noted for its naturally coming and relaxing properties, there’s growing evidence to support CBD’s quite impressive claims to fame.

But why are travellers in growing numbers adding CBD to their holiday packing lists? More importantly, what restrictions should you be aware of, if planning to travel with CBD in the near future?

Pure Contentment and Relaxation

Research suggests that CBD gets to work on the CB1 receptors in brain in a way that promotes feelings of calm, contentment and relaxation. Quite the opposite of THC (a powerful CB1 receptor activator), CBD is a CB1 antagonist. It doesn’t cause the ‘high’ associated with THC consumption and, according to the World Health Organization, there’s no evidence to suggest that CBD is addictive.

In which case, CBD could be the perfect product for bringing even more joy into the most pleasurable pursuits of almost any trip. Relaxing by the pool, soaking up the sun by the sea and generally making the most of your time, far from the usual 9 to 5 grind.

Combatting Travel Anxiety

It’s also been suggested by several scientific studies that CBD could be an effective everyday anxiety combatant. Precisely why CBD products have become popular among people who struggle with travel anxiety – particularly those who are afraid of flying.

Specifically, research has suggested that CBD can inhibit the body’s natural stress response process, calming body and mind when faced with difficult and worrying situations. Particularly when consumed for several consecutive days before travelling, users have reported significantly lower anxiety levels by bringing CBD into their routines.

The popularity of CBD among business travellers is also growing worldwide.

Understanding Regional Restrictions

Of course, the importance of understanding your entitlements from a legal perspective cannot be overstated. Regional restrictions apply worldwide, with different countries taking an entirely different stance on the legality of CBD. Even as close to home as Europe, some countries have stricter CBD policies than others.

For example, CBD is legal across the vast majority of North American states, with the exception of Idaho where repeated attempts to pass new legislation have failed. The legality of CBD is also somewhat questionable in Nebraska and North Dakota, where strict product-specific regulations apply.

Here in Europe, CBD oil products (with no more than 0.2% THC) are legal in most EU territories. However, CBD is still officially a controlled substance and therefore not legally permitted in Slovakia, Portugal, Finland, Denmark, Germany and Austria. It is therefore essential to check the legal status of CBD in the country you are travelling to, if planning on taking CBD products along for the ride.
